uPVC doors in Yorkshire and Wakefield

A uPVC door is the practical choice for most back doors, side doors, and straightforward front door replacements across Yorkshire. It’s cost-effective, low maintenance, weatherproof, and available in the same colours and finishes as our window ranges. Not the showiest door we fit, but often the sensible one.

Back doors

Most Yorkshire homes have a uPVC back door, and for good reason. A back door takes the weather, the daily kicks, the muddy boots, and the wheelie bin scuffs. uPVC handles all of it and comes back looking fine with a wipe-down.

Side and utility doors

Into garages, utility rooms, or side passages. uPVC is the no-fuss choice.

Front doors on budget projects

If the front door doesn’t need to be a statement piece, a well-specced uPVC door does the job and saves meaningful money over composite.

Matching sets

If you’re replacing windows in uPVC, it can look more consistent to fit uPVC doors too, particularly on the back elevation where colour matching matters visually.

What you get with a Calder uPVC door fit

Multi-point locking

Standard on every door. Three to seven locking points around the frame depending on the specification, with anti-bump and anti-snap cylinder protection.

Chubb locks available

On most ranges, we fit Chubb locks as standard. The lock quality matters more than most homeowners realise.

Multi-chamber profiles

The frame and slab are built around multi-chamber uPVC profiles, which trap still air inside the door for insulation and rigidity.

Energy-efficient glazing

Double glazed as standard, with 40mm triple glazing available on most ranges where you want the upgrade.

Weather seals

Proper gasket seals around the frame, brush seals at the threshold, and a weatherproof sill. The difference a well-sealed uPVC door makes to draughts in a cold hallway is surprising.

Low maintenance

Wipe with soapy water. That’s the entire maintenance schedule. No sanding, no repainting, no linseed oil on timber.

Colours and finishes

All the same options as our uPVC window range, which means the door and the surrounding frames can match perfectly.

  • Standard: white, anthracite grey, black, cream, chartwell green
  • Woodgrain effect: Irish oak, rosewood, golden oak, light oak
  • Dual colour: different inside and outside (common pairings: white inside, anthracite outside)
  • Any RAL colour on request

Glass panels

uPVC doors can take decorative, obscured, leaded, or clear glass panels just like composite doors. If you want the aesthetic of a traditional glazed front door at a lower price point, a uPVC door with the right glass panel and hardware does the job.

uPVC vs composite, honest answer

We get asked this every week. Here’s the straight take.

Pick uPVC if

  • It’s a back door, side door, or utility door
  • Budget is a priority
  • You want it to match your uPVC windows
  • The door isn’t a statement piece

Pick composite if

  • It’s the front door of a property you’re proud of
  • Security and thermal performance matter most
  • You want the widest range of slab styles and glass panels
  • You’re in it for the long term and willing to pay more upfront

We fit both, all the time, and we’ll tell you which one actually suits your job.

The install

A uPVC door replacement is usually a same-day job, often a morning’s work for a single door. Every install is FENSA-signed off and comes with a 10-year guarantee* on most products.

uPVC door FAQs

  • How long do uPVC doors last?

20 to 30 years for a quality uPVC door. Hardware may need replacing before the frame does.

  • Are uPVC front doors secure?

Yes, with proper specification. Multi-point locking, Chubb cylinder locks, reinforced frames, and internally glazed panels are all important. Cheap uPVC doors from volume installers sometimes skimp on these, which is where the security reputation comes from.

  • Can I get a uPVC door in anthracite grey?

Yes. It’s one of the most popular colour choices now.

  • Do uPVC doors come with a guarantee?

Yes. Most of our uPVC doors are covered by a 10-year guarantee* and we’ll tell you exactly what’s included before you order.

  • Can a uPVC door be repaired if it gets damaged?

Individual components (handles, locks, glazing) can be replaced. The slab itself can’t be meaningfully repaired if it’s cracked or holed.
