Replacement conservatory roofs and conservatory roof solutions, West Yorkshire

We fit three conservatory roof solutions across West Yorkshire: tiled warm roofs, replacement glass roofs, and glass roofs with a central lantern. The good news is that you don’t need to tear the whole thing down and start over. Replacing just the roof gives you a transformed room at a fraction of the cost of a rebuild, and we fit the upgrade across West Yorkshire.

Most of the heat in a conservatory leaves through the roof. Most of the summer overheating comes through the roof. Most of the rain noise you hear inside the room comes through the roof. And most of the 1990s and early 2000s conservatories in West Yorkshire were built with polycarbonate or basic glass roofs that are now showing their age.

Roof replacement options

Tiled warm roof (Equinox or SupaLite)

A fully-insulated solid tiled roof that replaces the existing glass or polycarbonate. Matches the roof tiles of the main house (or a separate tile choice if you prefer). Best thermal performance of any replacement option. Effectively turns the conservatory into a proper room.

Tiled warm roof with a central lantern

The best of both worlds. Solid tiled perimeter for thermal performance, plus a Korniche or equivalent roof lantern in the middle to bring in natural light. One of the most popular upgrades on larger conservatories and orangery conversions.

Modern glass roof replacement

If you want to keep the glass roof but upgrade the specification, we can replace polycarbonate or old double glazing with modern self-cleaning, solar-reflective, low-E glass. The performance gap between 1990s glass and modern conservatory glass is huge.

Polycarbonate to glass upgrade

A common starter upgrade. If your conservatory still has polycarbonate sheets, swapping to modern double or triple glazed units gives you a noticeable improvement at a lower cost than a full warm roof conversion.

What each roof type delivers

Tiled warm roof

  • Best in class for winter warmth
  • Significant noise reduction (rain and road)
  • Uses the room as a proper extension
  • Less internal light than glass options
  • Matches or complements main house roof

Tiled warm roof with lantern

  • Very good winter warmth
  • Good noise reduction
  • Brings sky-light down into the dining or seating area
  • Balances thermal performance and brightness
  • Most popular upgrade we do

Modern glass roof replacement

  • Keeps maximum light
  • Better thermal performance than 1990s glass
  • Less noise reduction than a solid roof
  • Conservatory still reads as a conservatory
  • Cost-effective if the existing structure is sound

Is your conservatory suitable for a roof replacement?

Most are. The structure only needs to carry the new roof weight. For a lightweight polycarbonate replacement (old glass or polycarbonate swapped for new glass), almost any conservatory frame will take it. For a tiled warm roof, which is heavier, the existing frame and base need to be strong enough. We survey first and tell you honestly if the existing structure needs reinforcing.

If the conservatory walls themselves are damaged, draughty, or just tired, we might recommend a partial rebuild or a full replacement instead of just a roof upgrade. We’ll tell you straight.

Roof replacements are much faster than a full conservatory rebuild. Typical install times:

Polycarbonate to glass swap: one to three days

Modern glass roof replacement: two to four days

Tiled warm roof: four to seven days

Tiled warm roof with lantern: five to nine days

We protect the inside of the conservatory during the work, and we build a temporary weather cover where needed so the room doesn’t flood if it rains mid-job.

Every install is FENSA-signed off where applicable and comes with a 10-year guarantee* on most products.

Before and after

The most common thing customers say after a warm roof upgrade: “We’ve been using the conservatory every day since you finished.” Rooms that were empty for nine months of the year become the most-used space in the house. That’s the transformation.

Conservatory roof replacement FAQs

  • Can I put a tiled warm roof on my existing conservatory?

Usually yes. We survey the existing structure and the base to confirm it can take the extra weight. Most modern conservatories can, and many older ones can with modest reinforcement.

  • How much does a conservatory roof replacement cost?

Varies significantly with size, style, and whether you’re going for polycarbonate-to-glass, glass-to-modern-glass, or tiled warm roof. We’ll give you a written quote after a free home survey.

  • Will I need planning permission?

Usually not, but a tiled warm roof replacement may need building control sign-off because of the weight change. We handle that paperwork.

  • How long does a conservatory roof last?

A modern glass or tiled roof should last 25 to 35 years. Polycarbonate lasts less. Old conservatory glass can lose its seal after 10 to 15 years.

  • Can I use my conservatory during the work?

For short jobs (polycarbonate swap) yes, with some disruption. For a full tiled warm roof install, you’ll want to clear the furniture out for the duration.

  • Will a warm roof make the conservatory too dark?

It changes the feel, because there’s no sky above you. Most customers adjust quickly and love the change. If brightness matters, we add a central lantern and the problem goes away.
