Integral blinds and integrated blinds, sealed inside the glass
Integral blinds
An integral blind — sometimes sold as an integrated blind or a sealed blind — is a slimline venetian blind built inside the cavity of a double glazed unit. You control it magnetically or electronically from outside the glass. No dust gathers on it, no cords dangle, no small hands get tangled, and it never needs washing or dusting.
We fit integral blinds into windows, sliding patio doors, bifold doors, and French doors across West Yorkshire.
Why homeowners pick integral blinds

They never need cleaning
That’s the headline. The blind sits between two panes of glass, in a sealed unit, behind the double glazing. Dust can’t get in. Spills can’t land on it. The slats stay the colour they were when you ordered them for as long as the unit is sealed.
No cords, no dangling tape
Safer for small children, safer for pets, and no tangled mess on the bottom of the slats every time you raise them.
They work with the window frame, not against it
Because they’re inside the glass, the internal reveal is clean. No blind boxes, no bracket marks on the plaster, no extra fittings to paint around.
They’re ideal for bifolds and patio doors
Standard blinds on bifold doors look awkward and get in the way when the doors fold. Integral blinds travel with the door leaf. Same for patio doors and French doors.
How they work
Two panes of glass, a sealed cavity, and a slimline venetian blind mounted inside that cavity. The blind is controlled by a small mechanism at the edge of the frame.
Manual control
A slim magnetic slider on the outside of the frame raises, lowers, and tilts the blind. It’s simple, silent, and completely reliable.
Electronic control
Upgrade to motorised integral blinds and you get hard-wired or battery-operated control with a remote, wall switch, or smart home integration. More expensive, but popular on larger doors and in rooms where you’d otherwise be reaching across furniture.
Solar-powered option
Self-contained solar panels can power the motorised version. No wiring needed at install.
Where integral blinds fit best
Kitchens
Zero dust and easy cleaning matter most here. Integral blinds don’t gather grease the way fabric blinds do.
Bathrooms
No moisture damage, no mould, no fabric to wash.
Patio doors and bifolds
Where standard blinds simply get in the way, integral blinds solve the problem.
Bedrooms
Particularly popular where asthma or allergies are an issue. No dust traps.
Open-plan spaces
Large glazed walls benefit from the cleaner look integral blinds give versus external roller or venetian blinds.

Integral blinds FAQs
Can integral blinds be fitted into existing windows?
No. They have to be installed as part of the sealed glazing unit when the window is manufactured. They can’t be retrofitted into existing double glazing.
Do they work on triple glazing?
Yes, on most ranges. We’ll confirm for the specific product you’re considering.
What happens if the blind breaks?
The whole unit would need replacing because the blind is sealed inside. That’s why we only fit ranges from manufacturers with a track record of reliability.
Are they worth it compared to standard blinds?
For high-use areas, rooms where dust is a problem, bifolds, and patio doors, yes. For a small spare bedroom, a standard blind may be the better value choice.
Can I control them with a smart home system?
Yes, on the motorised versions. Most smart home systems (Alexa, Google Home, etc.) can be integrated with some motorised ranges.
