We’re a family business, run by Nigel and Vicci Golby out of a showroom on 71 High Street in Normanton. Between us, the team has over 30 years of experience fitting windows, doors, conservatories, and extensions across West Yorkshire, and we’ve completed more than 1,000 projects in that time.

Nigel and Vicci aren’t in head office. They’re in the showroom, answering phones, doing quotes, and sorting the day-to-day of a business they’ve built from the ground up. If you visit us in Normanton, you’ll meet them. If you speak to us on the phone, you’ll speak to someone who actually knows your job.

That’s not a marketing line. It’s how the business works, and it shapes everything about how we treat customers.

How we got here

Calder Windows has been part of West Yorkshire for decades, first as part of the trade and now under Nigel and Vicci’s ownership. The business was built on repeat work and word of mouth, and most of our customers still come from recommendations, returning projects, or people who walked past the Normanton showroom and popped in.

We’ve fitted windows in stone cottages in Halifax, bay windows in Victorian terraces in Harrogate, bifolds in Leeds new-builds, conservatories in Wakefield gardens, and orangeries in Barnsley. Over 1,000 installations and we still find new quirks on every job. That’s what keeps it interesting.

Straight talking, no pressure

We don’t do 8-hour sales pitches. We don’t quote high and “discount down” at the door. If you ask for a quote, you get a price, an explanation, and the space to think about it. If it’s not right for you, that’s fine. We’d rather you buy from someone else than feel bullied into a decision.

Local knowledge

Our team lives in the area. That sounds small, but it matters when you’re quoting a conservation area property in Ilkley or working around a cobbled lane in Hebden Bridge. We know the housing stock because we grew up in it.

Stand behind the work

When we fit something, we back it. Most of our products come with a 10-year guarantee*, and if something goes wrong after the van’s left, we come back and sort it. Aftercare isn’t a separate department, it’s just what we do.

Who we work with

We’ve been careful about which brands and suppliers we stand behind. Every product we fit is one we’ve tested, trained on, and trust with our own name.

Rockdoor for premium composite doors with serious security credentials

Veka for the Omnia flush sash casement window range

Equinox and SupaLite for solid warm roof systems

Korniche for lantern roofs

We’re also FENSA-registered, a Which? Trusted Trader, CERTASS-certified, and Secured by Design accredited for the products that qualify. Those credentials mean every install is signed off to current building regulations and your home insurer is happy.

Where we fit

We cover most of West and South Yorkshire from our Normanton base. The bulk of our work is in Wakefield, Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, York, Huddersfield, Halifax, Barnsley and Doncaster, but we’ll travel further for the right project.

The showroom

Our Normanton showroom is where most customer journeys start. It’s set up so you can see the frames, open the hinges, feel the weight of a proper composite door, and compare colour finishes in daylight. No staged room sets, no pushy greeter at the door. Just the products, a coffee, and someone to answer questions if you want one.
